Home Tuition

This is a competitive era where parents expect children to excel well in schools, children are competing with each other to get the top in class and with all the long hours in school in addition to co-curricular activities, sometimes students are just tired and just want to be in their house. But, they have to study and they need guidance!

So, no more hassle of going out and troubling your parents of sending and picking children up from tuition centres, home tuition is the solution! Here's a way to find for a good TUTOR!

This is a great website for parents and students to find good home tutors. Besides that, it is also a website for tutors to connect with students. You can navigate easily through the website. Just sign up for FREE and you can start finding tutors or if you're a tutor yourself you can start finding jobs! It's that easy =) Further, it is not limited to academic subjects only. They also cover special skills like programming, chess playing, pets training, swimming, drumming, piano, entrepreneurship, cooking, dancing, and etc.

I have actually signed up to be a tutor as well! Because I am on break, I thought why not spend time tutoring. After all, if a good student comes along, I would totally be willing to teach him/her!

I really like the idea of home tuition. I am the type who likes a 1-on-1 coaching. In fact, I have been home tutored my whole schooling life, even if that was by my parents =) Students are given much more attention and the weaker points can be worked at better. As parents only want the best for their child, many will turn to home tuitions. Students can study in the comfort of their own homes, parents can supervise them and they need not waste time going out bracing through traffic to send their children to tuition!

Spotted!

In Britain, at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Kate Middleton alongside her husband, Prince William were spotted making heads turn!

She's wearing a pleated red dress by Alexander McQueen, which seems to be her favourite designer these days. That stunning red, with a modest hat and nude heels are just perfection with of course, a prince beside her =)

I just wish we could see more pictures of them holding hands...#justsaying

Daddy's Little Secret by Tina Davis

My favourite genre of books is romance. I've always bought romance books and then came Twilight and I started reading vampire-related stories. So, I thought of what books I wanted to read during my holidays and I came across 'Daddy's Little Secret' by Tina Davis. I wanted to have a change of read. I wanted to read something different and I thought this book looks intriguing so I bought it.

I think some of you must have heard stories about girls being abused and getting pregnant by their father/step father. This is one of such stories. This book is based on the author's true life events.

From the moment I read it, I couldn't put it down. It was something I've never read before. This was what happened to Tina Davis and I cannot imagine such things happening to any other girls in this world! I mean you've read about children suffering from hunger in Africa, child labour or children being abused by parents but never heard about a child's event to this extent!!

She was abused by her stepdad from the age of nine, catering to his sexual needs, cleaning the house spotless, suffering violence from him, getting beaten and imprisoned in his own house! He's the father to her four children and at the age of 26, she finally had the courage to leave him. That's 16 years suffering from her abuser!

This is a story of survival. Truth be told, I was actually depressed while reading this book XD I would have never made it out alive if you were to put me in such a situation! I was depressed because never in my wildest dream I would hear such a man who would do that to an innocent girl and also it's depressing that she could not get out of her abuser for so many years!

And it's all the more depressing that justice was actually not done. He only got 11 years imprisonment for doing such things to her and another victim. Imagine two girls, one of them abused for 16 years and he only got 11 years? In addition, he will only be jailed for half the time and the other half, he would be on parole. How could there be justice?? However, to Tina, she wrote that justice was done and he deserved it. I do not agree with her on this. Besides, from what I've learnt through family law, I could very well see that social services were very irresponsible in this situation. They did not probe further into the situation to find out what was really happening between Tina and her stepdad. That was very disappointing.

I actually had to take a step back after reading halfway because I was too drawn into the story and I was feeling very sad and angry about the situation. As I said, I was depressed. I'm like that. I have a heart for children and what happened was definitely not right at all!

However, I did admire her courage to survive for the sake of her children and finally leave him forever. She must be emotionally paralysed and psychologically damaged from it all but this story had a happy ending, thank God!

I'm not sure if I would recommend this book for leisure reading because it's definitely not leisure! But if you are interested to read a good story of survival, this is definitely a book to read! It also makes you appreciate your good life, though not perfect because some others out there are going through a living hell and we should be grateful for whatever we have now!

Pigeons

Look at my new pets! 5 pigeons altogether!! Hehe
Pigeons are also known as doves and look at those white feathers...so beautiful!!

Birds are actually fun to be kept as pets. As you may know, I am scared of animals so birds in a cage is not so frightening. It's quite fun to just look at them and see how they react among each other and sometimes they will give out some noises. They eat and drink very little so it's not such a nuisance to keep them.

However, they do shit a lot -.- They shit in the water, in their food and you have to constantly change the bowls and the newspaper beneath. But luckily, they are just in one place and not flying and shitting everywhere. You know how when you park your car under a tree and come back to find bird shit on your window? Well, they eat very little but shit a lot. I don't know how is that possible? *laughs*

I also wonder whether do birds sleep? Because I don't see them sleep. So I googled and learnt that birds do sleep but they are light sleepers, they rarely fall into any kind of deep sleep at all. No wonder!

They are tame...when I want to put food and fresh water in, I would pet them and they would not try to bite or want to fly out. They are good birds, don't give trouble(except all the shit), don't make noises like a parrot does, won't harm people and just perfect for a pet!

You know I used to wonder why would people keep birds as pets since they can't actually play with them. But actually, they are quite nice to look at and it gives you something to take care of when you are bored hehe...Oh, also you can talk to them and they won't talk back to you *laughs*

I would name all five but then I wouldn't know which is which because they all look the same =p

My Bazaar at The Scott Garden

Tammy from Plusizekitten in conjunction with her blog birthday invited her followers for a Bazaar experience at The Scott Garden. I was one of the lucky ones to get an invite =)

Each follower got a goodie bag and treated to an afternoon tea.

Yummy snacks!

Goodie bag!

There were shopping vouchers in the goodie bag so off we went to shop! There were so many shops and you could get almost anything there! Things sold there were shoes, clothes, nail polishes, masks, hair accessories, belts, etc etc. It's a girl's shopping playground *laughs*

As I'm a shopaholic myself, I could never go home empty handed. Bought some stuffs there and was very happy with my hauls! The vendors were also very friendly. The things there were quite cheap, which was a bonus point!

Me with Tammy!

Some of the stuffs from the goodie bag and from the treasure hunt prize!

So generous of Tammy to treat her followers with goodie bags and shopping vouchers and prizes for the treasure hunt winners! Some of my favourites were the O.P.I nail polish, iphone stickers, a pen which looked like lipstick and of course my treasure hunt prize which is a set of Olay regenerist cream and serum.

My Bazaar is a weekly bazaar where it happens every Saturday and Sunday. The Scott Garden is a fairly new shopping complex and that was the first time I went there at Old Klang Road. There are not many retail shops opened yet. Some of the more famous ones are Overtime, Beer factory, Chatime and there's Tesco as the anchor tenant.

Do check it out if you're free on the weekends!

Battleship movie

Yeah!! More DVDs hehe...It's my time to catch up on all the movies that came out during my exam period XD

I heard many good reviews on Battleship and yes, it did not disappoint!

I wish I could have seen it on the big screen! It starred so many good actors, the leading one is Taylor Kitsch and followed by Alexander Skargard, Liam Neeson and Rihanna made her acting debut in this movie.

The main storyline is the battle against aliens, which seems to be a very famous storyline nowadays but this was action packed! There were fantastic special effects, good fighting scenes and the whole show was very entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It's quite a long movie around 2 hours+ and scenes of Taylor and his on screen fiancee(Brooklyn Decker) was some nice romantic and hilarious scenes. She and Rihanna were the only two women in the show *laughs* Funnily enough, Rihanna was the only Navy officer in the entire ship. I think she did a great job, though. Her character suits her rebellious, tomboy personality.

Taylor Kitsch looked so much better in short hair. This is the first time I see him as a leading actor in a Blockbuster film. He did a fantastic job. He took charge on all the scenes!

This is the movie to watch if you want to see an action packed film, with some sense of humour and romance and loads of alien-fighting on a battleship.

My rating: 4 stars!
