Faber Castell x cartoonist LAT

Grip X, a product by Faber-Castell Malaysia today celebrates the diversity of Malaysia with LAT, Malaysia’s favourite cartoonist.

The event was held at Balai Seni Negara.

The Grip X, a pen that is designed for all walks of life became Malaysia’s favourite ballpen and a pen that is loved by all races since its launch in 2010. One piece is sold every 3 seconds and with a total of 11 million pieces sold in 2018. It is an affordable feature-packed ballpen that comes with the following features:

• super smooth due to its low viscosity ink technology

• writing comfort attributed by its ergonomic design with a triangular grip barrel

• a retractable mechanism

The Grip X is popular for various usages including writing, doodling and sketching. Comes in point sizes of 0.4, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0, and with three colour options of black, blue as well as red – it is no wonder that the Grip X is a bestseller.

I got a cartoonist to draw a portrait of me at the event using the Grip X pen.
 Not bad at all.
All these while I thought that pen is only used for writing. Little did I know that it can be used for drawing too!

The celebration unveils three of LAT’s exclusive drawings on Malaysia’s festivities i.e Hari Raya, Deepavali and Chinese New Year, hand-drawn using Malaysia’s favourite ballpen, the Grip X.

 TA-DAH

LAT used the Grip X with a combination of different point sizes in black, blue and red to produce the three pieces of drawings i.e Hari Raya, Deepavali and Chinese New Year celebrations. Three of these festivals represent the major races in Malaysia and they will be used on Faber-Castell Malaysia’s social media platforms.

Cannot imagine how he drew all of these with just pens!
It's definitely harder I think drawing with pen than wet ink.

He even did some live drawings in front of us.

Mr Andrew Woon, the Managing Director of Faber-Castell Malaysia, said the celebration of Grip X’s success as well as the collaboration with LAT, is also held in conjunction with the Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

According to Woon, LAT is an ideal partner for this celebration because he is an iconic Malaysian cartoonist that is loved by all Malaysians. Grip X does share some similar traits with LAT in terms of its popularity among Malaysians, a truly Malaysian product and most importantly a tool that is used to express creativity.

Working with Faber-Castell Malaysia on this project, LAT expressed delight and said this project is in line with his work which illustrates the Malaysian way of life. He mentioned Grip X worked great for his illustrations especially with its various point sizes which are ideal for creating various stroke sizes.

The Grip X with LAT’s cartoon is available nationwide at all bookstores, departmental stores and hypermarkets with multiple pack forms from the buy 3 get 1 free promo pack, the normal pack of 3 and the 40 pieces tub.
