Body Perfect workshop

Thanks to HOT magazine, I was selected to join this Body Perfect workshop at Sunway Pyramid.

I'm sure many of you have heard about Body Perfect. It's a one stop beauty centre for all of your beauty woes. They wanted to promote their latest treatment which is the Photothermolysis Hair Removal Therapy.

I just want to say that the Body Perfect centre at Sunway Pyramid is huge and so beautiful after they gave a short tour inside! It's very cozy in there which will instantly make you feel comfortable. The people at Body Perfect were also perfectly kind, helpful and hospitable!

Unlike any other beauty centres I've been, the staffs there are always smiling, taking care of you and are not forceful of their products, which is a plus point!

The reception

Consultation room

We had a hand therapy before the talk session. The hand therapy uses a machine to detox and we could see immediate results!

Ms. Sasha Ooi conducting the session.

Photothermolysis Hair Removal Therapy is a patented technology of Body Perfect. It uses heat and light and does not cause much pain unlike IPL. It will only treat the removal of your hair and will not damage your skin cells during the process. Immediate results can be seen even after one session! It is also safe and effective.

I think I learnt a lot in this workshop as some of you might know, I'm quite hairy *shies* The consequence of  constant shaving and waxing have quite a lot of side effects hence you must be very careful when doing it.

After the session, we were treated to some refreshments.

Finally, all of us there were given a free voucher to try out ourselves, the Photothermolysis therapy in the next trip! *excited* So generous of the people at Body Perfect! I can't wait for my next visit there. Will blog all about it =)

Everyone were also given a goodie bag each. The small bag you see above is a prize I got from the Q&A =)

Thank you Hot Magazine and Body Perfect!

Shimmer nails

After a whirlwind rounds of pattern nails, I finally got simple with O.P.I. It's shimmery, not too plain and classic looking!

Love it!!

Fashion alert: Peplum edition!

Peplum dresses are making waves on the runway. The ruffle details round the waist creates a flattering hourglass body shape. Peplum silhouettes can be found on tops, skirts and mainly dresses!

Seen similar dresses everywhere?

Celebrities are quick to pick up on this trend! Fashion boutiques are now loaded with peplum dresses. It's becoming quite popular among the ladies!

Of course, following Kate Middleton's famous Mathew Williamson's peplum dress, it is now trending.

You can see it everywhere on the red carpet. These are from some recent red carpet events:

Charlize Theron, Emma Stone, Emma Watson and Julianne Hough.

It can be worn long too as seen on Solange Knowles, Emma Roberts and January Jones.

Blake Lively, Kate Middleton, Jennifer Aniston and Michelle Williams.

I love it when worn long. Somehow, I'm not gushing over short peplum dresses. It creates a better hourglass figure in long gowns. I especially loved how Emma Roberts wore it in the long yellow gown!

Also, the ruffles shouldn't flare out too much or else it'll make you look fat. Well, we don't want that, do we? It should be a soft flare and structured.

So, what do you think? Should this trend stay or go away?

Spotted!

Katy Perry looks every bit a star in this red Dolce & Gabbana at the premiere of her concert film, Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D.

The matching red shoes are also from D&G. The whole get up with the violet hair and the red lips, dress and shoes shows that Katy hasn't lost her fashion quirkiness after her divorce from Russel Brand. She's still as gorgeous as ever!

Sunplay superblock SPF 130

Before I went to Langkawi, I wanted to find a sunblock that will NOT make me sunburn at all! Because I knew I would be going on many outdoor activities with long exposure to the sun, an effective sunblock is a MUST!

So, I found one with the highest SPF which is 130 SPF. Only Sunplay brand is with the highest SPF.

Mind you, I had a very bad experience with sunburn during my trip to Pulau Perhentian. I did not use sunblock with very high SPF and because we were in the water snorkelling for hours, I did not have the chance to reapply sunscreen.

Hence, I became dark like this:

Look at my brown-burnt hands!

Yes, it was my 19th birthday and it was one day after I came back from Perhentian and because I was so dark, I didn't have the mood to dress up, comb my hair or even smile for the camera *laughs*

It was the darkest I have become and my skin was peeling badly, I was horrified, so I learnt my lesson and reminded myself that I will never ever want to be sunburnt that badly again!

So thanks to Sunplay, after Langkawi, I did not get sunburnt at all! I was fair when I went and somehow people said I became fairer when I came back *laughs* I'll tell you why later...

Sunplay with SPF 130

It's liquid and looks a bit like liquid paper!

                 BEFORE                                                                                             AFTER

As you can see the 'AFTER' picture, my hand looks shiny and if after two to three more application it'll be fairer looking.

I was very determined not to be sunburnt one bit, so I was splashing sunscreen all round my body and reapplying after we went for a dip in the waterfall. I put on my face, on my hands till my legs and feet. Yes, I was going crazy *laughs*

I ended up became very 'white' almost like a geisha especially when the sun was shining on me and all you can see especially in pictures was a white, ghostly face of me LOL But, no sunburn at all!!! YAY!!! So much so, after all the activities my friends asked me how come I became fairer than before? Haha

After sunscreen, white and pale.

While outdoor, still very much fair!

Safe to say, this is an effective sunscreen! For extreme outdoor activities, Sunplay is very much recommended to be used if you don't want to be sunburnt. It is also super water and sweat proof.

However, there is one downside to it. Although it claimed to be non greasy, it's quite sticky to your body. You can feel as if you have put something on your body. Further, it's quite hard to come out, probably due to the super water proof, so I suggest if you were to use it, while bathing, scrub it off your body gently. I did not scrub and it stayed on and you can see residue left on my skin like white patches. It can be quite drying as well so a moisturiser would really help after all that.

If without some of the cons, this would have been a superb sunblock. But if you know the trick for the after effect, this is actually a good sunblock!

England out of EURO 2012

What a disappointment. Woke up at 2.45am to catch the show but after 120 minutes later (including extra time) there was no goal at all from Italy nor England! Then it had to go to that heart stopping penalty shoot out to determine who will enter the semi finals.

But as the title says it, England lost 4-2 through penalty and that makes Italy in the semis. It was also frustrating to see England play so badly. They hardly ever kept the ball and when they have it, the Italians were so quick to take it away from them. Shots on target were very few as well and I think perhaps, England deserved to lose.

Hence, Portugal will meet Spain and Germany will meet Italy in the semis.
I predict the finals would be Spain against Germany and Germany will go all the way to win the cup =))

Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

I love Sophie Kinsella as a writer. I have read 'Shopaholic and Sister', 'Shopaholic Ties the Knot' and 'Shopaholic and Baby' from the Shopaholic series and 'Can you keep a secret?' which are real fun reads! She's a young writer and witty and just connects with her readers!

I did not read 'The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic' but saw the movie, so to date I only have not read 'Shopaholic Abroad' from the entire series. But the shopaholic series can be read as a standalone. Hence, I am very familiar with the protagonist, Rebecca Brandon (nee Bloomwood) It seems I have grown with her from the start till she got married, pregnant, have a kid and being a young mother.

But that does not mean I like her. Yes, she is sometimes funny, a loyal and caring wife and a good mother but sometimes I just want to strangle her! Her addiction to shopping is just over the top with her lack of self control and money spending! The things she does sometimes to hide her strange acts is just out of this world. She lies once too many times, especially to her close ones and it just accumulates and that's such a bad example to readers *laughs* I thought in 'Mini Shopaholic', she would mature as she is a mother now, however, she does not change, unfortunately. Old habits die hard I guess.

But what makes me keep buying the shopaholic series? Well, firstly, I can relate quite a bit to the shopaholic habit as I'm a shopaholic myself. Also, those designer dresses and bags that Becky is so attracted to is relatable as well. She talks about brands like Valentino, Jimmy Choos, Chanel, Temperley, Burberry, etc and it got me excited *laughs* And of course, her two-year-old daughter, Minnie follows suit! She loves Starbucks and knows about Visa card! She is also quite spoilt XD

There is a little bit of maturity in Becky Brandon in this book when she kept her promise to Luke, her husband about not shopping but she splurged on her daughter instead so yes, that's the annoying part. Whoever buys a two year daughter a 21st birthday gift just coz the Temperley dress was on sale!! Sophie Kinsella can sometimes go overboard with Becky.

On a brighter side, characters like Luke Brandon, Suze, Tarkie, Jess and Bonnie are more liekeable. I especially salute Luke for keeping up with his wife's acts.

It was a fun leisure read during free time!

Snow White and the Huntsman

There are so many versions of the Snow White fairytale that sometimes I forget the original version LOL
But the original version is 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. Now, this movie is Snow White and the Hunstman instead. Another movie that just came out is Mirror Mirror, which I gave a bad review.

This movie, unfortunately was not very good either. I don't know why, both these movies spoilt the fairytale for me XD Firstly, Kristen Stewart was bad as Snow White. She has no expression and Snow White was supposed to be the 'fairest of them all', right? But Kristen just does not suit this character. She's more of a Xena, the warrior princess kind.

She doesn't talk much and has that constipated face, where I think suits as Bella Swan in Twilight but not here, probably not in any other movie than Twilight. She should change her expression. Also, the movie was quite slow and it's a 2 hour movie. I cannot say how many times I've yawned in the cinema -.-

Charlize Theron, on the other hand, was perfect as the evil queen. Her acting was just fantastic! She's sooo beautiful, almost flawless!! When her character was first introduced, I swore she should have been Snow White instead *laughs*

But of course, she is evil and she can be so ugly and fierce at the same time. That's the beauty of this character and Charlize carried it perfectly well!

This movie is better than Mirror Mirror but still not as good as it was hyped up to be. I wanted more and the ending definitely did not help either for a good rating.

So I will only give 2 stars. Watch it at your own risk!

Langkawi!

I'm back from a gorgeous island =)

It was a vacation packed with activities. So forgive me if I take more rest at home now because I'm so beaten up with muscle pains, joint pains, bruises and so on LOLZ! This is due to purpura simplex but it's okay, bottom line was that I had a lot of fun!

There are two main attractions of Langkawi, which are the beautiful sceneries and the beach. Scenery wise you should go to the top of the mountain either Gunung Mat Cincang by cable car or Gunung Raya. You should also check out Datai beach as it's better than Cenang beach. I even went parasailing for the first time =)

The view from the Seven Wells Waterfall- p/s we had to climb 372 steps to reach there -.- talk about vigorous exercise!

Cable car to Gunung Mat Cincang

Dataran Lang

Cenang Beach

At the tower top of Gunung Raya

In the meantime, I missed EURO *laughs* and the food there was not very good and expensive and you should really take a package tour in Langkawi or else you would be lost!

Finally, always go with good companies. The trip is nothing without the laughters, pillow talks and the chatting of all of us! Also, buy lots of chocolates! It's everywhere and it's sooo cheap!!

Cheers!

Of football and movies!

Quick update on my stress-free life hehe..Can I just stay like this forever? XD

How fun it is to watch EURO? *laughs*
So far now all teams in the groups(Group A,B,C,D) have played at least one game.
Spain, Italy, Holland, France and England were disappointing XD All of them should buck up! I so did not wake up at 2.45am or stayed to watch the 12.00am game to only see 1 or 2 goals -.- I need more goals and action!

Today Group A will start playing again..Poland and Greece each had one red card already LMAO. #eurofever continues!

Turning to my DVD movies marathon, I've now watched 'The Lucky One' starring Zac Efron.

This movie is based on the best selling author, Nicholas Sparks' book of the same name. Boy, Nicholas Sparks can really write great love stories! I've loved the Notebook, Dear John and now The Lucky One!

Zac Efron is acting as a US Marine who discovered an abandoned photo and believes that photo kept him safe and he must find the girl to thank her. He found her and their relationship blossomed!

It's erm...somewhat a cougar relationship because she's older and has a kid. It was pretty much a low budget movie, the scenes were mostly in a countryside with a few people. But the love story is what's prominent in the entire movie and hopeless romantics will enjoy this movie!

Seeking Justice movie

This show was not bad! It stars Nicholas Cage and January Jones. He is a high school English teacher who one day got the news that his wife was terribly raped. She did survive and he wanted to seek justice so he made a deal with the 'devil' whom he has to pay later...

The 'devil' is actually an organisation who will do the job that the police can't do without good resources. They will track down the rapist and kill them but the victim would have to pay them later. His 'payment' was to kill a so called 'child pornographer' which he refused to and so his whole life started going havoc and he wanted to get away from them.

Overall, it was a semi-action movie. I enjoyed it and it's definitely something to show that you should not make a deal with a stranger especially when it's too good to be true!

Also, with the current tragedies surrounding Malaysian shopping malls where ladies get kidnapped, raped or murdered in the carparks..This was what happened to January Jones in the movie! It was brutal...We must be extra extra cautious in such places!

My rating: 3 and a half stars!

How to register as a voter in Malaysia?

Well, I know most youngsters who are eligible to vote are wondering the same question. I just hit the big 2-1 two weeks ago and that means I am eligible to vote as well! Finally!

The below statement was taken from Star Online:

"Malaysians who are eligible to vote should register this month(June 2012) to qualify to vote in the 13th general election if it is held in September.

"If they register in the second quarter of this year, they will be able to vote if the election is held after August,” Election Commission deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said yesterday.

About 3.6 million eligible voters nationwide have not registered..."

So, if you are 21 and above, hurry!! Register as a voter now. If you don't, then don't start complaining about what happens to the government if you yourself did not exercise your right as a voter!

Go to any post office or any Election Commision Headquarters(there is one in every state) and fill in a form and bring your IC and you will be registered as a voter. I heard it only takes 10 minutes for the whole process of registering minus of course the waiting in line.

I am going to register soon in a post office. I can't wait to vote *excited* haha as this would be my first time!

After registering, do remember to check your status at this website: Electoral Roll Checking

For more info: visit http://www.spr.gov.my/

Updated: I have gone to the post office and registered and it was so easy. Now, after checking, my application has been accepted. So, I can now officially vote! *laughs*

You can do it, you can be happy

School Holidays are coming to an end, heck some of you don't even have a holiday to spare, but always remember...

Happy Saturday, readers!

XOXO

Mirror Mirror

Ok really! This movie is ridiculous! Not worth watching at all. I'm sorry for being so harsh but it's worst than a cartoon! FYI, I'm not a fan of cartoons. Somehow, it's beyond childish and what's with the Bollywood dancing at the end?

It's like a slapstick cartoon. Yes, that's what it's all about -.-'
However, it is a breakthrough movie for Lily Collins(Snow White) She undoubtedly looked very pretty and it's just like a fairytale where the princess should look flawless.

Other than that, don't bother watching at all! I'm so glad I watched it in DVD or else I could not bare sitting through it in the cinema!

EURO 2012

I'm so excited for EURO 2012. I may be a girl but growing up with a father who is crazy over football and mixing with mostly guys in my group of friends makes me interested in football as well =))

I have woke up in the wee hours before for previous EURO and World Cup matches even when I was in school or working so this time is no different especially when I'm on break!

This year the countries co-hosting the EURO 2012 are Poland and Ukraine. Of course, I will always support England but in doubt whether they can win it -.-

The first kick off will be tomorrow, Friday, 8th of June. It will go on till the final which falls on 1st July. Can't wait for the Monday match which is France vs England =) Germany vs Portugal and Spain vs Italy will be good as well!

Read from the newspaper that productivity in offices will be low this month *laughs* and expect employees to come in late for work LOL The matches will be broadcasted live in the a.ms so expect a lot of shouting while you are sleeping(those who don't watch) and a lot of sleepy eyes during working hours hehe

Football fever is always hovering in Malaysia. This is the sport that makes us all go crazy together. What would we do without football? *laughs*

Sponge manicure

I have recently tried the newest trend which is sponge-ing!! This is where you paint your nails and sponge it to have a gradient effect.

It's quite easy and since it's my first time, I will say I did quite Okay only. I mean it would have been nicer and better but practice makes perfect! I will show vaguely how I did it.

All nail colours are from Elianto. Not only it's cheap but it's quite good quality so it does not burn a hole in your pocket!

Firstly, I painted a base colour using Magenta. Wait for it to be thoroughly dry. This is very important! Be patient, don't rush into sponge-ing just yet.

Then use any kind of sponge will do. This is a face sponge which I cut it into this shape for easy usage.

Then apply any colour of your choice to the sponge. I used Blue Splash. It is crucial not to use any quick dry nail polish or else before you could sponge, it would have dried on the sponge.

As I said, I purposely cut it into this shape, because I wanted a flat straight end which would be easier to sponge on your nails.

Then start sponge-ing!! Dab slowly on your nails...

And ta-dah! 3/4 of the nails is sponged with the blue colour. Yes, it's messy and it's not very nice. But wait, it's not done yet!

After that, I used a lighter blue in Cyber Sky colour and painted at the edge of the sponge.

I sponged it again on my nails so that the blue would have a gradient effect. The tip of the nail is thicker with lighter blue and the middle is darker blue and lastly the magenta colour base.

Clean the sides of the nails and top it off with a top coat.

The colours pop with flash...

And my toe nails is actually purple but it doesn't show in picture. It's colour S10 from Elianto as well.

My nails <3

Try the sponge method! It's fun and nice to experiment with! =)
