Oscars 2014 red carpet

The annual Academy Awards had many big names on the red carpet with designer gowns. This year, subtlety seems to be the theme as no one really came in an elaborate gown. Many kept it simple.

Anne Hathaway in a simple halter Gucci dress.

Jennifer Garner in a fringe silver Oscar de la Renta piece.

Jennifer Lawrence in a striking red Christian Dior.

Kate Hudson wearing an Atelier Versace with plunging neckline and a cape. It's a rather unique dress which is great!

Amy Adams in a night blue Gucci. This dress really accentuate her svelte figure and she didn't need a dramatic dress to stand out. From her hair to the dress, the look is so classy!

Jada Pinkett Smith in a beautiful shade of pink Versace's dress.

Naomi Watts kept it simple in a Calvin Klein Collection dress.
One look at it and it's no surprise that it's CK. Most CK dresses are simple with not much detailing.

Charlize Theron in a Christian Dior haute couture dress with invisible straps.
At first glance, I thought the dress looked weird with the bustier shaped like that but knowing that it had straps made it look better.

Jessica Biel wearing Chanel Haute Couture.

Emma Watson in Vera Wang. I really think at her young age, she should experiment with fashion more rather than keeping it simple and boring. Would love something more elaborate on her.

Sandra Bullock wearing an Alexander McQueen dress.
Gosh! She wore this dress with such elegance. I love how a simple tube gown can be a little more elaborate with some detailing.

Penelope Cruz in a Giambattista Valli dress.
This shade of pink is so young looking and fantastic on her.

Lupita Nyong'O stuns in a custom made Prada. The Grecian-style design paired with a pretty headband looks effortless on her. This is her first time at the Oscars and she took home the Best Supporting Actress for her stint in 12 Years a Slave. She's not only an Academy Award winner but a winner on the red carpet as well. The dress is flowy and the baby blue suits her skin tone so well and she has been a favourite on the red carpet ever since award season started.

Lady Gaga has really cleaned up her fashion sense and seen here wearing an Atelier Versace dress. Love how it is structured and fits her perfectly!

Kristin Chenoweth in Roberto Cavalli. Another mermaid dress which suits petite people like her well. It's a perfect fit without drowning her small frame.

Idina Menzel who is now famously Adele Hazeem thanks to John Travolta is wearing a Vera Wang dress.

Anna Kendrick in a J Mendel dress. Again, for her young age, she should be experimenting with fashion on red carpet events rather than keeping it safe and simple. And that knee slit is weird.

Cate Blachett, winner of Best Actress is wearing an Armani Prive sleeveless nude gown with tons of Swarovski crystals.

Good looking couple Jenna wearing Reem Acra while Channing Tatum is wearing Gucci.

Matthew McConaughey, who won Best Actor in a Dolce&Gabbana tuxedo while his wife Camila Alves is pretty in pink in a Gabriela Cadena gown.

Kristen Bell is wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress while husband Dax Shepard is wearing head to toe John Varvatos.

Brad Pitt is charming in Tom Ford. Cannot say the same for Angelina Jolie who looks old in this unflattering Elie Saab dress.

Chris Hemsworth is wearing a David August tuxedo while wife Elsa Pataky is just all wrong in another Elie Saab dress. That is not how you show off your baby bump.

This is how a pregnant woman should dress! Olivia Wilde is in an all black Maison Valentino gown while Jason Sudekis is wearing Prada.

Have you watched the Oscars yet? Ellen Degeneres was a really good host! Her 'attack' on Jennifer Lawrence's falls were hilarious among others!
