Reasonably priced honeymoon in Maldives

Maldives was a dream come true. I have always seen pictures of the clear blue sea water together with the over water villas and it seemed a bit far fetched until we were there ourselves. We went, lived the dream and really enjoyed so much that we were so sad to come back =(

We were in Maldives for our honeymoon. Initially, this honeymoon wasn't supposed to happen because we already went for our preweddingmoon but I thought of surprising the husband to Maldives for a treat =)

Before touching down, we were welcomed with a beautiful rainbow from the airplane!

From the sky, the island seemed so blue and so dreamy.

We were already superr excited!

When we came out of the airport, the clear blue water like what you've seen in pictures greeted us. This is totally non edited. It was surreal.

We took a boat to our resort.

Now, let me tell you about how I did my research on finding our resort. Maldives is made out of many many different islands and some of these islands are operated by private resorts. So, when going to Maldives, you either stay in one of the private island or stay at Male, the capital of Maldives in one of the guesthouses and take a boat ride for a one day package for a day spent in one of the resort just to have the resort feel in pictures(this is the cheapest version).

We stayed at Meeru Island and Resort for 4 days 3 nights. I was researching through Agoda for so many resorts and finally found Meeru being one of the most reasonably priced with good value for money with fantastic reviews. As we always hear, Maldives is an expensive place because once you're at the island, you cannot go out of it without paying a hefty price for boat and you have to eat at the resort.

Therefore, we took the All Inclusive Package meaning food and accommodation was covered for the entire stay. If you're not on the All Inclusive Package, you have to pay additional for food which is really pricey and it is not as enjoyable. We also went during the off-peak season. September is known to be a rainy month but thank God, it rained slightly when we arrived, rained only at night and rained on our last day so it didn't interrupt any of our activities. I guess we were really lucky! And with all that into account, I felt the price was very reasonable throughout our stay.

We only spent RM10k for 2 persons' entire stay, inclusive of hotel, food, speedboat ride and flight. I thought it was reasonable because during peak season, RM10k is only for accommodation and not inclusive of the rest. Hence, why the more I researched, I felt it was worth it and booked it and next thing you know, we were on the flight for our honeymoon LOL!

We then reached the resort after almost an hour's boat ride. Boat ride itself costed USD155 per person for a round trip(I think price has increased) but it's all included into our RM10k cost.

We were welcomed with a band of music.

And greeted us with a welcome drink and a cold towel which was so refreshing. Their service was top notch and it's why I'm recommending this resort.

I booked the Jacuzzi Beach Villa for 2 nights and Overwater Villa for 1 night.

For our honeymoon, Meeru delighted us with bed decoration...

...a champagne and fruit platter <3

Room was spacious.

Had a private jacuzzi and it was awesomeeee

Jumped into the jacuzzi straight and totally enjoyed ourselves!

The minibar is all free for us in our package and is refilled once a day. Perfecctttt!

Super thrilled to be in a dream =)

Our hotel is overlooking the beach

Can just walk across and straight go for a dip in the blue sea.

Our package includes certain alcohol and we drank and drank and snacked and drank all day long haha. It is like Club Med style where you can eat for free all day.

Next day woke up for buffet breakfast. All we do is eat all day( no wonder I gained weight after I came back -.-)

And then chill with a cocktail on hand.

There are many games and activities for couples. The entire resort is filled with couples. Love is really in the air here. When the environment is filled with love, you will also feel loved. It's the only feeling plus the service is always with a smile so you always feel good here.

Chess is provided here. There are game rooms for darts, pool, ping pong etc and we really utilised all of it haha

Chilling at the beach for a poster view.

At Meeru, our package also included a free excursion to a nearby island. We sat the boat to Dhiffushi Island to see the Maldivian culture which is only a 10 minutes ride.

At the Magistrate's court here. Do you know that the court is rarely ever used? Any disputes, petty theft etc are mediated between themselves. The court is sometimes used for family law but even that, divorce rates are super low in Maldives.

Also, Maldives is a Muslim country. Only when you're at the private resort, you're allowed to wear bikini.

When you're on a non resort island, no bikinis are allowed and no alcohols are allowed. So for example, if you're staying at Male, you have to adhere to their Muslim rules. Even in the resort, we are not allowed to wear revealing clothes in the restaurant as well.

Did you know that Maldives provide 3 free things to their residents:

a) Free land (but you have to build your own house);
b) Free education; and
c) Free healthcare

How cool!

Meeru so sweet gave us 2 bottles of champagne during our stay =)

Eat more buffets

Drink more cocktails

Drank too many tequila shots that the waiter just brought me a huge glass to last me longer HAHAH
Ahhh..lifeee

Then we checked in to our last night at the Jacuzzi Overwater Villa. It's so crazy that we get to stay here. It's exactly like what you see in pictures.

The picturesque view when we wake up in the morning.

The free minibar

The washroom with outside jacuzzi.

The view from the jacuzzi.

Just amazing. We were in awe.

We then went on a sunset cruise included in our package as well.

Sunset view =)

At night we can see fishes in the water right under our villa.

Even spotted a baby shark!

Summed up our honeymoon. Lazing around.

Maldives...everyone should at least visit once in their lifetime(before it sinks that is) I'm so glad this was our honeymoon destination <3 Because literally you're just with each other all the time the entire time so you can learn more about each other.
