International Women's Day

Each year around the world, International Women's Day(IWD) is celebrated on 8th March, that is today!

The United Nation's IWD theme for this year is Empower Rural Women- End Hunger and Poverty.
Funny how I just learnt about feminism in jurisprudential law. I am not a radical feminist(thinking we can live without men) but I do think the softer gender deserves much recognition and acknowledgement for their success and deserves full enjoyment of human rights.

This is an occassion to review how far women have come in their struggle for equality, peace and development. In the 21st Century, women are being treated so different from how they were being treated in the olden days making their fight for equality worthwhile.

However, it's still a long process before we can really say women fully enjoy fundamental rights, freedom and dignity. This is apparent in the rural areas, hence the theme for the year 2012.

I know many who goes to these rural areas and help in anyway they can to either build houses for them, give free tuition to the children, provide them skills to help them make some money, etc. Do your part, in any way to help them =))

Happy Women's Day! Thank you for making this gender proud!
