Kony 2012

I'm pretty sure many of you have heard about the 'Kony 2012' campaign. It has gone viral in all social network sites.

It's actually a half hour documentary about Joseph Kony- a warlord in Uganda, who has led a guerilla group known as the LRA(Lord's Resistance Army) who is responsible for the enslavement of 30,000 children. Over a period of nearly 30 years, the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army has abducted children and forced the boys to kill their parents and turned the girls into sex slaves.

The aim of this campaign is to use the power of viral media to raise support for his arrest and set precedent for international justice.

However, some are raising doubts as to whether social media is an appropriate forum.

Me, on the other hand, thinks it's a good way to bring social awareness. Hey, I'm all the way from Malaysia and now I know who Joseph Kony is and what he has done. If there is one way to do that, is to share it in social networks as we all know what they can do. Sure enough, in one day itself it went viral and 100 and thousands of people have watched the documentary and donated to support the cause.

It's a very touching story and can I just say Gavin is too cute =)

Do watch it and do your part in making Joseph Kony 'famous' so that he will be captured. We now know about it and we cannot stay quiet because we care about the people of the world!
