The Asia Pacific Hairdressers and Cosmetologist Association(APHCA) held its annual Hair and Make-Up Olympics competition in conjunction with the Beauty 13 Expo, bringing international talents and professionals together for an exciiting competition. This time, it was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on the 6th and 7th October. This year, the event was supported by Malaysia Major Events which is a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau(MyCEB) under Malaysia's Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
The halls for the Beauty Expo and the Main Stage for the competition was restricted and were not opened to the public.
My pass for the day.
This competition is created by APHCA for international and local talents to exhibit and share new knowledge, creativity and ideas with each other. There were 13 participating countries such as Malaysia, Australia, Japan, Korea, Philippines and many others.
On 6th October, there was a Welcome Gala Night of Asia Pacific Hair and Make-Up Cultural Heritage Show. On 7th October was the day of the Asia Pacific Hair and Make- Up Olympics Competition.
Contestants were put to test through 8 intense round of competition which are 4 rounds of hair competition and 4 rounds of makeup competition such as:
-Ladies Designer Hair Cut
-Men's Avant-Garde Hair Cut
-Evening Elegant Hair Cut
-Bridal Hair
-Ladies Designer Make-Up
-Evening Elegant Make-Up
-Bridal Make-up
-Fantasy Make-up
There were so many contestants and the main stage was filled with make up artists and their models.
This was the first make up competition- Ladies Designer Make Up
Some of the models there participated in the previous hair show that's why their hair are all so unique!
They have 30 minutes to make up their models.
Final touch up!
Wow! Gorgeous eyes.
All the models were transformed after the dramatic makeup!
I don't think I'll be able to choose a winner out of so many!!
The next make up competition- Evening Elegant Make-Up
Make up artists working hard to win the competition.
The 300 category contestants were scrutinised and judged by over 90 judges from the region and winners were announced towards the end of the evening, which unfortunately I couldn't stay that long.
It was really inspiring to see what you can do with make up! All the makeup artists really put their heart into it and all the models were transformed! I really enjoyed myself seeing the hair and the make up which are all a work of art!
